Healing (CODEPENDENCY) From The Inside Out

Carolyn Adkins and Heidi Flemons

Codependency is a term given to describe dysfunctional relationships in which we choose to care-take others.  An example might be living with an addict and trying to change them through “helping.”  Actually, codependency is not only a feature of the “helper”, but is at the root of addiction. In other words, all addicts are codependents. The dysfunctional relationship issues must be addressed even if acting out behavior has stopped.  Many of us are hurt and disappointed because we do not get what we need and want in relationships.

  • Identify unproductive relating patterns
  • Examine family of origin dynamics
  • Learn to establish healthy boundaries
  • Connect to God’s power for healing of the emotional pain

This class will not only help us understand what is healthy and what is not, but will provide resolution of the pain we still carry. Learn how to stop getting the short end of the stick. Experience God’s healing grace!

Mondays 7:00-8:30. September 18 through October 9.

Communion

Breaking bread together.

Communion is a celebration of God’s provision for us through Jesus Christ. As we partake of the bread which is a symbol for Christ’s body, we are reminded that we too, his people, are the body of Christ. We are united in communion and so should take care that we do not harbor disunity in our hearts as we practice it.

Communion demonstrates our union with God and our unity with one another as we remember and celebrate Christ's giving of himself for us. You do not have to be a member of Springcreek Church to share in our Communion service.

Who can participate?

Communion is for those who have trusted Christ as their Lord and Savior. This means that communion should not be served to small children or to others who do not understand or who have not made a personal decision on their own to follow Christ.

When is the next Communion service?

Saturday, October 21 (after service): 6:15pm-6:45pm
All are welcome. Childcare not provided.

For more information, please email Pastor Lee Jarrell: lee@springcreekchurch.org

HEALING FROM THE INSIDE OUT WITH CAROLYN ADKINS

There is no cost for the class. You will be required to bring a journal and markers to each class.

In many cases healing works from the inside out. That is to say, our attitudes and feelings have a huge impact on our state of mind and body. Jesus announced to a hurting, dying world that He was anointed by the Holy Spirit to ‘preach good news to the poor.’ Admitting we are poor in spirit opens us to the dynamic healing flow of God’s Spirit into our lives.

Life doesn’t deal a fair deck. It is stacked with disappointment, failures, lies,
misconceptions, crisis and catastrophes. We are all subject to these situations, and if we store up emotional fallout in our hearts, we block God’s Love, which we desperately need. Jesus came to remove the heartache and bring wholeness.

Carolyn Adkins is a Licensed Professional Counselor, Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, Certified nutritionist and Spiritual Director.

Men's Book Study

7 weeks of fellowship and discussion from Tony Campolo's Let Me Tell You a Story: Life Lessons from Unexpected Places and Unlikely People

Why stories? Stories have the power to sneak up on us, catch us unaware, and in the process draw us closer to our fellow human beings... and to God. During this book study, we will learn important truths about who God is and what he is doing in the world through stories both ancient and modern.

You will have time each night to get to know other men at your table and have discussions about the week's reading. As this is a community space, it requires your commitment both to reading and being present each week. You can purchase your book

”The Gathering“, Bible study with Pastor Keith Stewart

Tuesdays: February 21, February 28, March 7, 7:00-8:00pm

Now God gives us many kinds of special abilities...and there are different kinds of service to God (ministry)... All of you together form the one body of Christ and each of you is a separate and necessary part of it.
— 1 Corinthians 12.4-5,27 (Living Bible)

At Springcreek Church, we believe that every member was made to minister. How, where and to whom may vary for each and every one of us, but the fact remains, God has gifted us with special abilities and together we form the one body of Christ. It is our desire to encourage, strengthen and equip our ministry leaders. Pastor Keith wants to offer some teaching around some mission critical topics.

Part 1 - Leadership 101 – What are the qualifications, responsibilities and accountabilities of leaders? What does healthy versus toxic leadership look like? How is Biblical leadership different from its secular counterpart?

Part 2 - Biblical Authority – What place does the Bible hold in the believer’s life? Are the red letters more important than the black letters?  What’s the difference between a high view and low view of   Scripture? Learning discernment in regards to the mishandling and invalidation of the text.

Part 3 - The Relationship Between Law and Grace – What is a Christian’s relationship to OT law? Does the teaching of grace nullify the law? What’s the difference between the purity code and the law?
Registration Not Required for the Class
