FAQs
We believe being in community and doing life with others is an important part of your journey as you become a fully devoted follower of Christ. We want everyone to be connected, so we offer three different types of groups:
> Online Only: These groups meet exclusively online.
> In-Person: These groups meet in person.
> Hybrid: These groups meet in a combination of both in-person and online. This could look like alternating between online and in-person, or it could be some people meeting in person and others joining them via video.
A Community Group is a small gathering of two or more people that meet regularly, wrestle with real issues, embrace the gospel together, remindone another of our identity in Christ, lovingly hold one another accountable, and serve one another.
Simply check out the groups, by type, and find the one that you feel most connects with you. If you need help, one of our staff will assist you. It might take two or three groups to find the perfect fit, but don't worry, you'll find it!
Three types of groups are offered:
> Online Only: These groups meet exclusively online.
> In-Person: These groups meet in-person in various locations.
> Hybrid: These groups meet in a combination of both in-person and online. This could look like alternating between online and in-person, or it could be some people meeting in-person and others joining them via video.
Yes. We have online groups for people who live outside the Garland area and for folks not able to meet in-person.
We believe that life change happens in community and Community Groups are where true discipleship takes place as we study God's Word while supporting and sharing our lives with one another.
Most Community Groups meet on various nights of the week in homes. We're able to host some groups on the Garland Campus. Most evening groups meet from 7-9PM. The daytime and weekend groups meeting times vary.
We have Spring and Fall Group sessions that launch for eight (8) weeks. At the end of each session, you will have the choice of staying in the same group, trying a new group, or even taking a break. Most groups stay together throughout the entire year. We also have groups that are ongoing and are open year-round.
Each group works together and decides on the commitment based on the group. Like anything else, the more you invest in your group, the more you will get out of it.
Most groups meet and decide the study based on pre-approved materials provided. Other groups form their studies around sermon messages.
The cost of Community Group is the cost of your time and commitment. Each group will determine the commitment requirements at launch.
Most groups are adult only but some groups welcome children. We leave it up to each family to work out their own child care. Sometimes it works best for families to share a sitter or swap child care with another family that meets on a different evening.
You can sign up for a group at any time. New groups typically launch in the spring and fall. You can sign up online, stop by Community Life during weekend services, or contact Tammy Dickey, Groups Pastor by email or phone: 972.494.5683.
Yes, our Springcreek Student ministry offers small groups for students in middle and high school. Although these groups are not included in this publication, they are very important to our church and meet Sunday evenings. For more information, contact Diana Ramirez.
